Lap-EASIE-R Simulator

Description

The new LapEASIE-RTM Laparoscopic Simulator allows both the use of deconstructed task modules, as well as realistic ex-vivo porcine specimens for laparoscopic training. It is well suited for novices and advanced surgeons. The simulator consists of a bowl-shaped tray with a pegboard that can hold task trainers as well as complete ex-vivo organ packages. The simulator includes a dome-shaped top with 25 rubber ports to insert the instruments. A camera is installed, and the laparoscopic image is displayed on the tablet mounted at an ergonomic eye-level height. This simulator is equipped with a computer to facilitate online virtual training using the Endosim VR training software.

The simulator package includes a series of task trainers such as a suturing pad, bead transfer module, pegboard with triangles, and a ring transfer module. Ex-vivo gastrointestinal organ packages can be purchased from Endosim and can be used for the realistic simulation of surgical procedures such as e.g. laparoscopic cholecystectomy, intracorporal suturing, laparoscopic colectomy and many others. Ex-vivo specimens are obtained from the meat production industry and provide a realistic tactile feedback with the possibility to use commercially available laparoscopic equipment.
